Keep your mind sharp this summer with one of many reading opportunities and challenges offered by Rawlins Library this July.
BUTTERFLY TAKE AND MAKE
Throughout the month of July pick up your take and make butterfly kits at Rawlins Library to transform old book pages into butterfly wings. Full kits with directions are available while supplies last.
BOOKOPOLY
July 1 – Oct. 31
You can get a jump start on the Bookopoly reading challenge beginning July 1. The game challenges you to read seven books between July 1 and Oct. 31 by following the themes on the “Bookopoly” game board; it comes complete with Get Out of Jail Free cards. To sign up for the challenge and a chance to win Pierre Pride dollars, visit Rawlins Library – where there’s always “free parking”.
SUMMER READING PROGRAM
June 5 – July 27, 1 p.m. – 2 p.m.
Mondays: 6th Grade & Up
Tuesdays: K & 1st Grade
Wednesdays: 2nd & 3Rd Grade
Thursdays: 4th & 5Th Grade
Participants will enjoy a range of age-appropriate activities, crafts, games, presentations, and a chance to earn Book Bucks all while working within the All Together Now theme. It focuses on positive traits like kindness and friendship.
MIDSOMER MURDERS ADULT READING PROGRAM
July 3 –July 19 & July 24 – Aug. 29
Could you Survive Midsomer? Find out by joining Rawlins adult summer reading program where you become the winning detective or you become the victim. It’s an adult choose-your-own adventure murder mystery book. Check out your copy at the library desk and share how you did when all is revealed at the in-person finales. A gift will be given to the best gumshoe!
design a bookmark contest
Monday, July 10 – Monday, Aug. 14
Before 5 p.m. on Aug. 14 kids ages 6-17 can submit safari themed bookmark designs to Rawlins Library. The winning designs will be distributed to Rawlins Library patrons throughout the month of September. For a complete list of contest rules visit rawlinslibrary.org or visit the library in person.

Join certified ASL interpreter to learn about the history of the language, basic signs, and what it takes to become an interpreter.

Bring your canning recipes, tips, and tricks to share along with any homemade canned goods you wish to pass.

ONE BOOK SOUTH DAKOTA AUTHOR TALK & BOOK SIGNING

Rawlins Library and the South Dakota Humanities Council brings you One Book South Dakota Author Diane Wilson.
