Hillsview Golf Course will open for the season on Monday, April 4, but you can warm up your swing on the driving range even sooner.
Weather permitting, the range will open at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 2. Then, on Monday, the full course will open at 10 a.m. To reserve a tee time, call 605.773.6191 or visit cityofpierre.org. Season passes are available online at cityofpierre.org.
Bryan Tipton, City Parks and Recreation Director, says the Hillsview team was busy throughout the winter readying the course for the 2022 season.
“We worked to modernize our underground irrigation system,” said Tipton. “With the current dry conditions, it appears this new irrigation is going to be especially important this year.”
To help preserve the turf during the dry conditions, the Hillsview staff is asking golfers to abide by the 90-degree rule and stay on the golf paths as much as possible.
Golf Pro Carin Hayn says that she’s looking forward to seeing the patrons back on the course.
“It’s always exciting to fire the course back up for another season,” said Hayn. “We got our winter work wrapped up with some restroom and kitchen updates some time ago; we’re season ready.”
In 2021, Hillsview had a 230 day playing season, hosted more than 40 events including the SDGA Men’s and Women’s Match Play Championship, and hosted more than 32,300 rounds of golf.
Hillsview is a par 72 course that features bent grass greens, bluegrass fairways and tees. The clubhouse is a full-service facility featuring a pro-shop, snack bar, grill and seating for 80.
