Pierre, SD –The City of Pierre is looking for volunteer advisors, and you could be one.
Four community advisory boards –the Arbor Board, Golf Board, Park and Recreation Board, and the Traffic Safety Committee –will have positions open in 2015. And Mayor Laurie Gill is inviting community members to become engaged in local government by serving on these boards.
“It’s vital for city hall to understand the needs and wants of our community members,” said Gill. “These boards provide a perfect forum for our citizenry to weigh-in on the future of Pierre.”
Advisory boards provide ideas and recommendations regarding planning, development and policy changes in a variety of subject areas.
Advisory boards meet on a monthly basis and those appointed to advisory boards generally serve two or three year terms. Board members are volunteers and are not compensated for their service.
Those interested in serving are required to complete an application. If you’re interested in serving on one of the boards, contact Laurie Gronlund at 605.773.7341 or via email at Laurie.Gronlund@ci.pierre.sd.us.
