Hillsview Golf Course will open for the season this week with some operational adjustments to help keep golfers and employees safe from the COVID-19 virus.
If the weather is cooperative, the driving range will open at 11 a.m. on Friday and the full course will open Saturday with tee times beginning at 10 a.m.
Just like last season, there are some operational measures in place to help keep players and staff safe from the COVID-19 virus. Those safeguards include:
- mask recommendations when in the clubhouse
- no group gatherings at Hole #1 tee box
- range tees will be 10 feet apart
- tee times scheduled in 10 minute intervals
Equipment will be sanitized frequently. For instance, range balls, tokens, and buckets will be disinfected between each use. Carryout coolers and carts will be cleaned between users as well. For a complete list of safety measures, visit cityofpierre.org.
Pierre Mayor Steve Harding says the Golf Board and the Hillsview staff did a lot of work to appropriately prepare for the season.
“We all wish the pandemic was in the rearview mirror,” said Mayor Harding. “Unfortunately, it’s not; the team had to strike the right balance between safety and play.”
