The Second Annual Kids to Parks day is Saturday May 17.The first of three legs of the Pierre/Ft. Pierre Area Kids to Parks Day will be held at site #12 and #13 in the main campground at Farm Island Recreation Area from 8:30 to 10:30. Join members of the High Plains Wildlife Association, as they host their 37th annual Youth Fishing Day. Registration starts at 8:30 with a fisheries demonstration beginning at 9am. The High Plains Wildlife Association will have drinks and cookies available throughout the event and prizes will be awarded to 5 age groups. Parents are encouraged to join in the fun!
The second leg begins at 11:30 am at the Pierre Arboretum where the Pierre Recreation Department, Rawlins Library and Pierre Arbor Board will have outdoor cooking demonstrations, tree education activities and more fun.
The third leg of the day long events will be held at the Oahe Downstream Recreation Area disc golf course, Powerhouse Alley. We ask that those joining us for the Kids to Parks Day join us at Picnic Shelter # 1 from 2 – 4 p.m. We will have an introduction and workshop on skills & techniques, plus a round of disc golf. Parents and children are welcomed to participate. Disc Golf is one of the fastest growing recreational pursuits in America, so come join us and see what everyone is excited about and best yet its great exercise.
