Arboretum Open House and Tour
Take a tour of the trees this week at the Pierre Native Plant Arboretum.
Guided tours of the Arboretum, located at 1200 E. Izaak Walton Road in Pierre, begin at 5:30 on Thursday, Oct. 5. Tours will be offered until 7 p.m. on Thursday. Participants will learn about the various species of native trees planted at the arboretum.
The Open House is sponsored by the City of Pierre Arbor Board, Prairie Potter Master Gardeners, Sunshine Chapter of the Izaak Walton League and the Missouri Breaks Audubon Society.
The Pierre Arboretum was established in 1989 and features 45 different native trees throughout the three acre area. Its maintenance is overseen by the City of Pierre Arbor Board.
