The City of Pierre is hosting a going away party for Mayor Laurie Gill and City Administrator Leon Schochenmaier, and the public is encouraged to attend.
The open house is June 30 from 2 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. in the Community Room at the Pierre Area Chamber of Commerce. Light refreshments will be served.
After serving nine years as mayor, Mayor Gill did not seek re-election this year. Mayor-elect Steve Harding will be sworn in as Pierre’s new mayor on July 5.
Schochenmaier has served as Pierre’s City Administrator since 2006. He will retire on June 30. Brad Palmer, City Utility Director, will serve as the interim City Administrator until a permanent replacement is named.
