City Sponsored Contractor Meeting: March 24
PIERRE, S.D. –The City of Pierre is hosting its annual Pierre Area Contractor Meeting on Thursday, March 24. The meeting runs from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and will be held at the Pierre Area Chamber of Commerce Community Room.
Participants will meet Pierre’s new Building Official, receive updates on all city utilities, learn about changes to building and construction code and get updates on contractor licensing deadlines.
John Childs, Pierre City Engineer and Planning Director, says that all contractors are welcome and encouraged to attend the meeting.
“We offer this training annually to keep our contracting community well educated on regulatory changes,” said Childs. “Contractors are a very important piece of Pierre. We want to do what we can to help them understand the law and be successful at their trade.”
All residential contractors operating in Pierre are required to be licensed by the city. Continuing education credits are required for license renewal, and the Thursday meeting fulfills the continuing education credit requirement. The credit is at no cost to meeting attendees.
There are currently 129 residential contractors licensed by the City of Pierre. In 2015, the city issued 780 residential building permits.
