2012 budget photos 013_thumb.jpg

The City of Pierre Park Department has implemented fogging operations in the community of Pierre to assist in the control of mosquitoes. The City will fog the community every night weather conditions permit such operations. Department staff have determined the mosquito numbers are rising in the community to the point fogging is warranted. The City utilizes trained staff operating two truck mounted mosquito foggers to cover the City. Ideal weather conditions exist when winds are less than 10 mph. Fogging operations are conducted at dusk and into the evening.

Staff have begun spraying common areas and sports fields to enhance the protection of our youth and adults that use such facilities. The public is advised to take precautions by applying an appropriate mosquito repellant and minimize skin exposure when outside. The threat of citizens getting West Nile Virus is a concern.
