Buff up those golf clubs; the Pierre season is about to start.
Hillsview Golf Course will open for the 2024 season on Monday, March 25. Weather permitting, play will begin at 10 a.m. To reserve a tee time, call 605.773.6191 or visit hillsviewgolf.com.
The driving range will open for the season on Monday, March 18. Range hours are 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Bryan Tipton, City Parks and Recreation Director, says late March is an early start for the city-owned course.
“We’re hoping the long-range forecast holds,” said Tipton. “The soil temps need to be above freezing, and we need to have some moisture in the ground to prevent turf damage.”
Last year, Hillsview opened on April 18.
“We typically can’t open the course until sometime in April because of weather and soil temperatures,” said Tipton. “We’re optimistic we’ll have a long and mild season in 2024.”
In 2023, more than 31,500 rounds were played at the public course.
Hillsview is a par 72 course that features bent grass greens, bluegrass fairways and tees. The clubhouse is a full-service facility featuring a pro-shop, snack bar, grill, and seating for 85.
