Rawlins Municipal Library has one meeting room, the
South Dakota Room, which serves multiple purposes:
- Home to the library’s state historical collection
- Space for library programs
- Public meeting area

Who Can Reserve the South Dakota Room?
- Must be a Rawlins Municipal Library cardholder residing in Pierre, Fort Pierre, Hughes County, or Stanley County
- Library card must be in good standing (no overdue or damaged item fees)
Room Rules
- The South Dakota Room is free to use
- Library patrons must have access to books in the room, even during meetings
- Noise must not disrupt other patrons or staff
- Use of the room does not imply library or City of Pierre endorsement of viewpoints
All visitors must follow the Patron Code of Conduct🔗. Only Rawlins Municipal Library may host public events in the room.
Special Notes
- Available for student use (study groups, tutoring, test proctoring) on school days 3:15 PM – 5:15 PM
- No reservations accepted during this time or during Summer Reading
- Unattended Children Policy🔗 applies
- Groups of 20+ require Library Director Approval
The Library Board and/or City of Pierre may deny or revoke permission for violations or disorderly conduct.
Reservations
- Library and City events have priority
- Reservations are first-come, first-served and can be made up to 4 weeks in advance
- Call 605-773-7421 or email rawlinslibrary@ci.pierre.sd.us to request
- No reservations for closures or after hours
Check-In/Check-Out:
- Present your library card at the desk when arriving and leaving
- Patrons must leave the room as they found it (return furniture, remove supplies and personal items)
