Summer Rec Guide Published
The City of Pierre’s Summer Recreation Guide is now online and features more than 35 youth programs, as well as recreation opportunities for adults.
Among the summer recreation programs for youth are swimming, tennis, drama classes and T-ball. Online registration for all programs begins at 6 a.m. on Monday, April 22. Walk in registration begins May 7, and will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Recreation Office located at the YMCA.
According to Recreation Superintendent Mindy Cheap, the City continues to extend its preschool summer recreation programming.
“We’re offering a Preschool Music and Movement class this year,” said Cheap. “It’s a good mixture of music and gross motor skills for kids between the ages of 3 and 5 years old.”
Also new to the summer rec line up this summer are:
- Create Your Own Fun, a program that uses toys, athletic equipment, and musical instruments to encourage children to invent their own games;
- Not the Same Old Gym which reinvents gym class with uncommon games;
- Playing the Field takes kids outside to enjoy physical activity with new group games.
Programming begins Monday, June 3. For registration details and a complete list of adult and youth program schedules, fees, and age restrictions, visit cityofpierre.org. Activity Guides are also available at City Hall and at the YMCA.
