Water Treatment Plant Proposal: Third Informational Meeting Scheduled
The City of Pierre will host its third public informational meeting about a proposed Water Treatment Plant at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, May 21. The meeting will be held at River Cities Transit, 1600 East Dakota Avenue.
On the June primary ballot, the public will vote on whether or not the City should build a Water Treatment Plant near the waterfront in Steamboat Park. The project is the result of citizen feedback gathered through a community survey. Survey respondents said they wanted the City to provide better water quality. The proposed plant would improve water quality by changing the water source and reducing the mineral levels that currently cause hard water and water discoloration. The estimated cost of the project is $37 million.
Additional information about the proposed plant, its financial impact, and details about Pierre’s current water quality can be found at cityofpierre.org.
