Registration for summer recreation programs starts soon, and it just got a whole lot easier.
The City of Pierre has invested in a new registration system that allows you to sort recreation programming by location, category, age group, and day of the week. It also populates a personalized calendar with all of your registered activities.
“I’m really excited about this new program,” said Mindy Cheap, City Recreation Superintendent. “I think parents are going to be very pleased by how easy it now is to register for programs and keep schedules organized.”
All users will need to establish a new account on the new system.
There are more than 30 summer programs for kids this year. Cheap says the old standbys like basketball, T-ball, swimming and tennis are back, as well as some more contemporary options.
“We’ll take advantage of the City’s play trail this year with the Play Trail Olympics,” said Cheap. “It’s kind of like a giant obstacle course that takes the kids through each of the play pods on the play trail.”
She says that Trail Trekkers, Fishing Fridays, Pirate Parties and Mini Squeaky Sneakers are also back in the lineup. For a full calendar of summer recreation activities, visit cityofpierre.org. Activity Guides are also available at City Hall and at the YMCA.
Programs start on Monday, June 4. Registration for all the programs opens at 6 a.m. on Monday, April 23.
